Group tour FAQ
Meet fellow travelers while exploring safely with a trusted local team.
See major highlights while still making time for quieter valleys and meaningful encounters.
Citizens of many countries, including the EU, US, UK and most of the Gulf states, can enter Kyrgyzstan visa-free for up to 60 days. Rules change from time to time, so we recommend checking your country's requirements before booking and we're happy to help point you in the right direction.
Late May through September is peak season for mountain travel: high passes and yurt camps like Son-Kul are only accessible then. Spring and early autumn are quieter and still beautiful lower down. Winter opens up a different side of the country, from skiing near Karakol to snow-covered valleys.
Group tours run on fixed dates (typically 3, 5, 7, 8, or 10 days) and are priced per person, joined by other travelers. Private tours are built entirely around your dates, pace and interests, for your group only.
Accommodation, transport between destinations, a guide and most meals during the tour are typically included; each tour page lists the exact details. International flights, visa fees and personal travel insurance are usually not included.
Yes, Kyrgyzstan is generally a safe, welcoming country for travelers, including solo travelers. As with anywhere, normal precautions apply and having a local guide (as on all our tours) makes navigating rural areas and language barriers much easier.
It depends on the tour. Our tours range from easy, mostly-driving itineraries to multi-day treks at altitude. Each tour page lists a difficulty rating and we're happy to help you pick the right one for your fitness level.
The Kyrgyzstani som (KGS) is the local currency. Card payments are increasingly common in Bishkek but unreliable in rural areas and yurt camps, so we recommend carrying some cash (US dollars are easy to exchange) for smaller purchases and tips.
Coverage is good in Bishkek, Karakol and other towns, but patchy to nonexistent in high mountain areas like Son-Kul or Kel-Suu. A local SIM card is cheap and easy to get on arrival for the times you do have signal.
