Issyk-Kul Region
Altyn-Arashan ("golden spring") is a high valley above Karakol, reached by a rough 4x4 track or a scenic day's trek. At the top, simple guesthouses cluster around natural hot springs where you can soak with a view of surrounding snow peaks a well-earned reward after the journey up. The valley is also the starting point for treks toward Ala-Kol, one of the most photographed alpine lakes in the country.
